Given the growing outreach of technology, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has certainly come a long way. Poised as the next big step of human advancement, and evolution even, it has already started infiltrating all areas of human activity, including writing.

It has therefore become increasingly common for creators to use AI tools (most famously ChatGPT) to assist their content creation. Although it can be very helpful, effortless, and trouble-free, it can really impact the quality of your content negatively.

There are a lot of articles out there, some outright AI generated, and some rephrased, but still clearly identifiable as AI generated. Lots of writers even seem to be promoting this by presenting step-by-step articles on generating, rephrasing and posting AI generated content.

In this article, I will explain how this content can spoil your writing and how you can avoid that.

AI lacks your style and voice

The content generated by AI is based on a certain set of fixed patterns and structures. Therefore, the content produced by AI will always follow the same repetitive, unvarying, and overall boringly dry format, as opposed to a voice and flair which is unique to every writer.

AI also lacks originality

AI produces content based on the data it has been fed, so it cannot produce any new, original or prototypical content which writers are capable of.

AI can contain errors and plagiaristic content

AI tools are fed by a given amount of data and they are not foolproof. The content is produced from the given data, so it can contain mistakes, errors and could potentially be of a plagiaristic nature.

AI generated content can also undermine SEO

Search engines prioritise original and quality content, and are even able to detect and filter out AI content at unwanted. So relying completely on AI generated content can undermine your SEO rankings.

AI can disrepute your identity

Due to the above mentioned effects of using AI generated content and the fact that it lacks uniqueness and creativity, and is instead abundant with repetitive and mechanical content, it can damage your reputation as a writer, and reduce the image of your content among readers.

AI content generation can be really helpful, but it’s should be used in a reduced and balanced manner. The ability to produce new and creative content is unique to only humans, and it cannot be replaced in any manner. And that is what all readers look for in writers' content.

Personally, as a writer, even I use AI to assist in generating information and formulating a structure for my content, but I always make sure to put it down in my words in the way and style I want.

A really useful tool I use is ZeroGPT, which is a tool to check for AI generated content. Although not very accurate, it can give a correct and informative analysis of any content, and provide results on the extent of AI usage in the text.

Detection of content on ZeroGPT

Independence and uniqueness are the fundamental differences between the human mind and AI. It is important to remember that, because readers want to read about what you have to say, and not some AI bot.
